The Climate Story is a subject that we can no longer turn away from
Inspired by the renowned writer/marine biologist, Rachel Carson, and her famous book, Silent Spring (1962), on environmental pollution and the natural history of the sea, this exhibit will present “Man’s attitude toward nature” to shift, and create a new dialogue of understanding and movement. This special Art/Science exhibition is based on research using visual dialogue, storytelling and art to develop a climate change story. From the extinct Taiwan plants to the colorful rainbow panel using ocean waste collected from the NE coast, further reminded us how we are connected to our environment and what we can share with our next generation.
The entire exhibit is a Self-Guided Tour. You can simply scan the QR code next to each artwork and listen to the story and creative mind behind each artpiece.

Andy Chen is an underwater photographer/artist focused on marine conservation. He has spent over fifteen years documenting the marine life in Kenting. During this time he noticed the declining health of the oceans with less life and more plastic. Inspired to do what he could he actively supported the local non-profits, worked with researchers, volunteered in his free time, and helped launch World Turtle Day on Xiao Liu Qiu with The Society of Wilderness in 2012. It is through his regular beach clean-ups he realized the different colors found could be a good method for people to pay more attention to the damage of plastic in the environment. He continues to be inspired by nature and cares deeply about the state of the ocean he calls home. |
